St. Joseph School held our annual Christmas Concert on Thursday December 10th. The band portion of the evening began with the Cadet Band's rendition of a musical journey; "A Visit from St. Nicholas". The Cadet Band was comprised of students who began instruments in September, and who were led by Student Conductors Philip A and Jonathan H. Members of the Advanced Band then took the stage and played a variety of Christmas classics including "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and "Believe" (from the movie Polar Express). The instrumental portion of the evening was closed by Philip A and Simon A who presented a spirited drum duet "A Lil' Somin', Somin' "
Grades Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 7 then took to the stage to present a musical Christmas journey. Beginning with "All I Want for Christmas Is My Two front Teeth" (presented by Kindergarten and PreK) and quickly transitioning to 6th Grade's "O Little town of Bethlehem" through 4th Grade's "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" the days and weeks leading to the birth of Christ were told through traditional Christmas songs. The evening ended, as is a St. Joe's tradition, with the singing of "Silent Night" as the SJS 8th Grade presented a Living Nativity, complete with a 5-day old "Baby Jesus," 3 Kings, shepherds and angels.
Thanks to the efforts of FMI instructors Ms. Jillian Katz and Mrs. Beverly Brown, and the students of SJS, family and friends all enjoyed a wonderful evening of Christmas music. Click Here to go to the Photo Gallery to view or download the original sized photos.
