Registration for St. Joseph School, Bristol Now in Progress

 

Registration materials for the St. Joseph School 2010/2011 academic year are now available, with enrollment accepted on a rolling basis throughout the Spring and early Summer. Kindergarten and Pre-K 3 & 4 spaces fill quickly and annually there are a limited number of spaces available in our primary 1-8 grades.  Our Middle School (Grades 6-8) accounts for approximately one-third of the school’s total enrollment, with these students providing valuable mentoring and leadership to the St. Joseph school community.

Families interested in learning more about St. Joseph School are welcome at any time during the year to contact the school for an individual appointment and tour.  An interview with the Principal is strongly encouraged, especially for those students transferring from other schools.  Additionally, transfer students in Grades 1-8 are offered the opportunity to spend a day in the classroom “shadowing” a current student. Once a student is registered, detailed information is provided about the variety of Orientation Programs.

St. Joseph School Offers:

Preschool Program: The curriculum focuses on the development of the individual child and is implemented throughout the school day to insure that all children are encouraged to learn and grow.  A new reading-readiness program entitled "Happily Ever After" was instituted this year, and includes beautifully-illustrated stories, lively discussions, a variety of hands-on activities, and clear instruction designed to build success step-by-step.

Full-day, half-day, three-day, and five-day programs are available for children three to five years of age.

Kindergarten Program: This program provides may opportunities for hands-on learning.  By the age of five, our children are introduced to many new skills, work habits, and concepts that are building blocks for future success in school and life.  Our goal for this program is to enhance learning, foster a healthy self-esteem, and develop creative individuals and problem-solvers.  Full-day and half-day programs are available for children ages five to six years of age.

Primary Education: Out students in grades 1 through 5 achieve basic literacy and numeracy as well as foundations in science and social sciences.

Middle School Education: Our students in grades 6 through 8 apply their skills, knowledge, and values toward educational, spiritual, physical, and emotional growth and development.

Pre-K Multi-Student Tuition Credit

There is now a multi-student tuition credit to include families with children in Pre-K!  In addition to the multi-student tuition credit offered to families with more than one child in grades K-8, St. Joseph School will offer a $200 family discount to families who have a child or children in both the Pre-K3 or Pre-K4 program and a child or children in grades K-8.  Families with more than one child in Pre-K3 or Pre-K4 will receive a multi-student credit this year as well.

Referral Bonus for Current Families

Please help us spread the word about Faith-Filled Excellence at St. Joseph School!  Again this year, current families who refer prospective families who then register and attend SJS in the fall of 2010 will receive a "referral bonus" of $100.00 in the form of a tuition credit.  There is no limit to the number of referral bonuses a family can receive.  Please make sure that your prospective new families note you as the "referring family" when they complete the Contact Form when they visit the school.  The forms are available online at http://school.stjosephbristol.org.   With your help, we can meet our goal of 50 new families in 2010-2011.
 
Faith Filled Excellence for More Than 100 Years! PDF Print E-mail

St. Joseph School has a strong tradition of providing quality faith filled education to families from Bristol and surrounding communities. In a nurturing, safe, and structured Pre-K to 8th grade environment, students are provided with the academic, social and spiritual tools needed to succeed in a challenging world.  The school offers full-day as well as morning options for both Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten.  Aftercare options are available until 5 pm.  In our vibrant Middle School (Grades 6-8) students strive for academic excellence, and build skills that allow for increased personal responsibility and social leadership. The school is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and financial assistance is available.

Did you know?.....

St. Joseph School is the oldest parochial school in Bristol, having celebrated 100 years of Catholic Education in 2003!

The St. Joseph School Pre-K Program was the first Catholic School Pre-Kindergarten program established in Bristol, and celebrated 20 years in 2008!

St. Joseph School established an all-day Kindergarten in 2004 and an all-day Pre-K 4 Program in 2007. Both half-day and full-day Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten options are currently offered to meet the needs of our school families.

St. Joseph School successfully completed a 2 Year Self-Study and formal Re-Accreditation process in the fall of 2006. St. Joseph School has been accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges since 1996.

The Class of 2010 is the 102nd graduating 8th grade class of St. Joseph School!

St. Joseph School Principal, Mark Monnerat, has led the school for 23 years as its first and only lay principal.  In 2007 he was awarded the 2007-08 Hartford Archdiocesan Distinguished Elementary School Principal Award. In addition, Mr. Monnerat was also selected as the 2008 New England Region recipient of the Dr. Robert J. Kealey Distinguished Principal Award by the National Catholic Education Association in Washington, D.C.

The St. Joseph School faculty has over 240 combined years of classroom teaching experience!

Most of the faculty members at St. Joseph School are State-certified and have Masters Degrees. St. Joseph School faculty and staff have taught at the school an average of 13 years!

The teacher to student ratio at St. Joseph School is currently 1:21.

SMART Board technology was implemented in the fall of 2009 and is utilized in all SJS classrooms. A 6-station Science Lab, which accommodates 30 students, was dedicated in the spring of 2007 at St. Joseph School. The school’s 35-station Computer Lab was completed and dedicated in 2003.

The 2009-10 tuition at St. Joseph School for children of active parishioners in grades K-8 equates to less than $17 per day!

Over $30,000 in tuition assistance and scholarships were awarded to St. Joseph School families in 2009! Up to $40,000 in tuition assistance grants will be available to St Joseph school families for the 2010-2011 academic year.

In 2009 and 2006, the Valedictorians at Central High School and in 2006 the Salutatorian at St. Paul High School were graduates of St. Joseph School. In 2005, a St. Joseph School graduate was the Valedictorian at St. Paul High School.
